So now i continue from my previous post.

erm... how to construct Settling Basin?

1) Excavation work - You have to aware that you'll found
lots of boulders in the ground, therefore you must
prepare costing for rock blasting. Before any excavation, you have to
produce a OGL (original ground level) that endorsed by
qualified surveyor. It is because the OGL will be
a guideline for claim purpose later on. From the OGL,
QS will calculate the amount excavated area.
When you want to start any excavation, bare at mind
that maybe in the future you will need the excavated
soil for backfill later or the rock boulders will
gonna use later on in the other construction.
Therefore you have to dump the soil or rock
that you already excavated at dumping area.

2) Check Settling basin ground level. The engineer have
to check and sure that the excavation is reach until
required level. It is very important to aware on level
because if the level is not reach at required level,
we will not get enough energy as per want we want.

3) Hardcore + Sand Blinding - The best way to avoid any wastage is to have
formwork for every perimeter of the area. You also have to construct a drain
every perimeter for water running to avoid flood in the area.


4) Compacting - To make sure it is well compact especially at edge of slab because
the edge of slab will sustain settling basin wall. it is massive load to carry at
the edge of slab.

Tender Process

Today, i'm gonna give an intro about my work. Currently i'm working as an Engineer in private sector in Project Management company.

My project is related to a green technology. Basically it is a development of small hydro plant sumwhere at kelantan state.

Currently this project still in the tender process. So right now, i will explain lil bit on task that i hv handled in this tender process.Actually, it just my knowledge on what i understand about this tender process in my project.

1) Firstly, before starts the tendering, the consultant will make sure they have their own estimation price of the project. All the estimated price will have their basic reference. Let say, if you are review on the steel price, you must have a basic price from the manufacturer and from there we can estimate the price precisely. Later on when the consultant come with their price, it will be a reference price to evaluate the tenderers BQ.


2) In my scope of work, i have given a task like a QS which is to key in all the estimate price in each item in the BQ and will come out the total amount of the project. This task it not a simple work, it is quite tedious and detail. I have to check every single item in the BQ from the rate of price until to the formula in the BQ's spread sheet. I have learned sumthing in this task. Even though you have double check or triple check on your work, however it is important to have a checker on your paper work. Otherwise you wouldn't track your mistake.

4) After done the estimate price of BQ, it will binds all the in one contact. Then,
the tenderers will collect the BQ and submit their price BQ before the due date. After collect the BQ, the consultant will call at the tenderers for the tender briefing. The consultant will brief clearly about the contract, the technical requirements and also the important dates to follow.

5) Then the tenderers will have the tender site visit, so that they will have a big picture about this project and will help to put their price in the BQ.

6) After tenderers submit their BQs, the client and consultant will form the tender committee to evaluate and recommend the best and reasonable BQ from the tenderers. In this case the committee have applied the point form evaluation. Lastly after choose the best tenderers, my client will submit to their board for their decision to select the contractor and award the project.




So, that's all the point that i wanna share to all my followers.
